Five Held Over Attack on Two West Nile Buses

Unidentified gunmen staged a fake road block around Karuma on Friday last week and robbed passengers aboard Gaagaa and KK traveler’s coaches at gunpoint in two separate attacks.
According to police, six thugs stopped the Kampala bound Gaagaa Bus as it approached Pakwach town center. They stripped their victims naked before making off with all their valuables and hard cash.
Two hours later, the same thugs intercepted another Bus from KK Travelers and also robbed the passengers. Polly Namaye, the deputy police spokesperson says police have already arrested five suspects in connection to the robbery and recovered a gun.
She says one of the passengers, a Congolese national had just been in Kampala to sell Gold and was moving with cash amounting to USD100, 000 but he threw the money outside the window before the robbers reached him.
She explains that, the robbers who seemed to have been aware that the passenger had a lot of money demanded for it but the passenger could only avail USD150, after failing to get the money, they ordered all passengers to strip naked and move out of the bus.
Tabu says the same thugs had short at one of their buses earlier on when the driver refused to stop at the fake check point.
