The guard, a police constable working under the Counter Terrorism Directorate in the Very Important People Police Unit (VIPPU) told detectives that he placed the gun down and it accidentally went off , an act viewed as rush and negligent.

However, Police has set up a team to investigate circumstances under which the bullets were fired.

According to the Deputy Police spokesperson, Polly Namaye, the force does not entertain negligence in the use of fire arms and thus the officer will be held responsible.
