FUFA Big League Round Up
The Saints coach Hussein Mbalangu had a successful trip to West Nile.
The Saints FC secured their first win in the FUFA Big League, while Mutundwe Lions are still without a win this season.
Kumi University 0 – 0 Hope Doves
Kumi University held on for a goalless draw with Hope Doves on Sunday evening.
The University side will rue for the missed chances while their newly promoted opponents.
Baza Holdings 2 -1 Gulu University
Gulu University suffered yet another back with a defeat to Kampala perennial FUFA big league side, Baza Holdings at Villa Park Stadium on Saturday.
Tadeo Mukisa opened the scoring charts with a well taken strike in the 37th minute before Anthony Papira gave the visitors some ray of hope for an away point with the equalizing goal 10 minutes after the half time recess.
However, Lawrence Bakiranze had different thoughts for the visitors as he netted a late winner, 13 minutes from full time to claim full points for the home side.
Vurra 0- 2 The Saints
Vurra hosted The Saints at Cele Cele stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors were looking to bounce back from their midweek goalless draw to another West Nile side Mvara.
And The Saints got their goals from Morris Karomanez and Farook Kawooya in each half. Nicholas Odong has a goal disallowed for an apparent infringement that only the referee saw and above it heir trip to West Nile with a clean sheet in two games.
The Saints sit comfortably at the summit of Rwenzori group log and will play their first home game on October 19th against Baza Holdings at Namboole Stadium.
The loss leaves Vurra in 9th place on a solitary point.
Lweza 3 -1 Ndejje University
Another disappointing result for Ndejje University, who played to their biggest defeat on match-day 2 of the season when they travelled to Lweza.
The popular prediction that Ndejje will win the Big League and University Football League this season is looking less likely.
Mvara 2-2 VCC
Victoria Club California (VCC), bankrolled by Taban Amin held Mvara to a 2-2 draw at Arua Hill in the other West Nile match up. Mvara’s single point from the draw moves them to sixth on two points.
Good Samaritan vs Kirinya (No show)
For a home side not to honour their home fixture then something big is amiss. In Kabale, Kigezi Good Samaritan (KGS) failed to turn up for their game against visiting Kirinya and the competitions committee will most definitely hand Kirinya the three points and three goals.
Soroti Garage 1-2 Ngora Carr
FBL big-timers Soroti Garage were upset by visiting Ngora. The Teso side we slightly missed promotion to the Fufa Super League, fell 1-2 to Ngora Freda Carr.
Mutundwe Lions 1 – 1 Wandegeya
Former Uganda Cranes and St Patrick’s inspirational midfielder, Charles Livingstone Mbabazi scored for Big league perennial contenders, Wandegeya Football Club to put his side in the lead in the match played at Kasenge Primary School play grounds.
However, Moses Kiggundu ensured FUFA President Moses Magogo’s Mutundwe Lions get their first ever big league point with a well-deserved equaliser.
