Girl, 18 Held For Stabbing Sister To Death

Police in Kaliro are holding an 18 year old student for stabbing to death her sister after allegedly picking a quarrel over a boyfriend.

The suspect, Viola Mulondo, a senior two student at Kaliro high school, allegedly stabbed her young sister Gloria Mutibwa  a 13 year old primary seven pupil  at Kaliro Church of Uganda primary school with a kitchen knife several times in the abdomen.

The incident occurred on Sunday, September 28.

The duo has been staying with their grandfather, Stanley Khisa, at Bulwalujo cell, Buyanga parish in Kaliro town council for the past seven years after the death of their father John Musobya, a former UPDF soldier.

Locals rushed to the scene moments later only to discover that the accused was lying in a pool of blood. According to a neighbour, Dan Mugwa, the two sisters had earlier picked a quarrel over a boda boda cyclist who operates within Kaliro town council.

According to Mugwa the suspect claimed the boda boda cyclist only identified as Issa belonged to her while the deceased insisted she met him first.  Mutibwa died instantly after being stabbed several times in the abdomen.

The Local Council one chairman Bulwalujo cell, Khalid Isabirye, said he has on several times requested the two sisters to avoid quarrels and concentrate on their studies I vain.

At the time the incident happened their grandfather was away from home.

The district police commander Kaliro, Samuel Asimwe said the suspect is to appear before court on murder charges.
