Government launches Ugx 9.8 billion solar powered water project in Kisoro , Rubanda Districts

Government of Uganda on Thursday launched the construction of Ugx 9.8 billion solar powered water supply in Rubanda West in Rubanda district and Bukimbiri in kisoro districts.

The Ugx 9.8bn Project is funded by Government of Uganda with Support from Exim Bank of India and Implemented by Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department under Ministry of Water and Environment.

The Project which was handed over to the Contractor, Ms Shakti Pumps India Ltd is expected to serve an estimated population of 44,000 people covering  18 Villages in Nyanamo Town Council and 6 Villages in Bukimbiri Sub county in Kisoro while 12 villages will be served in Butare-Katojo Toun Council and Muko Sub County Rubanda District

The function was held at Iremera Health Centre III in Nyanamo town council in Rubanda District.

Karuru Godfrey Mayor Nyanamo town council commended government of Uganda for considering his people to get water.

Moses Gavo the project contractor from Shakti pumps India limited promised that the company is going to do classic work in a shortest period.

Moses Kamuntu the  Rubanda County  west legislator said that it has been a big challenge of shortage of water in Rubanda and Nyanamo town council.

Sarah Mateke  the State Minister for Youth and Children affairs who was the guest of honor emphasized that the project should take little time calling  upon Shakti pumps India limited a company expected to construct a solar powered water supply system in Nyanamo and Bukimbiri sub-county to do the work and finish in short time.
