President Museveni has said that missing head of Independent presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi is hiding.
Speaking at a rally in Ntungamo on Friday, Museveni distanced himself from allegations that the Go Forward is behind the Aine’s disappearance from the public scene.
However, he said Aine will pay because he was caught on camera hitting National Resistance Movement supporters in Ntungamo.
“That boy is being hidden by some people. He will pay because they caught him on camera hitting people with a club. I don’t want to say it is Mbabazi who is hiding him,” he said, adding “I don’t know whether it is also a case for a VIP/leader to standby doing nothing while someone is being clobbered,”
Ntungamo was the scene of ugly clashes between supporters of the NRM and Go Forward on December 12.
A few days later, Aine disappeared from the public scene.
Since Thursday, Social media has been awash with photos of a dead body alleged to be that of Aine.
His whereabouts continue to dominate political discussion.
Police has on many occasions denied being behind Aine’s disappearance.
On Thursday evening, police questioned and detained The Red Pepper Chief editor Ben Byarabaha and Dickson Mubiru, Kamunye managing editor over the photo published in the two publications purported to be Aine’s dead body.
Controversial former Political Intelligence Unit boss Charles Rwomushana has also been detained over the same issue.
