Kabale Diocese on Drive to Raise UGX850M for Immaculate Heart Parish Church

Kabale | RedPepper Digital – Kabale Diocese is hunting for UGX850 Million for the renovation of the 68 years Immaculate Heart Rubanda Kiizi catholic parish church in Rubanda County West Rubanda District one of the earliest churches in Kabale Diocese.

Rev. Fr. Aurelius Maguru, the Rubanda catholic parish priest reveals that the Parish Church was constructed in 1954 and accommodates over 2000 Christians ever since then it has never been renovated.

He says that they expect to generate the money from the catholic community because they don’t have any other sources of revenue.

Fr. Maguru says that the Bishop of Kabale Diocese Rt Rev. Callistus Rubaramira has told them to hire a contractor to undertake the renovation using the meagre resources available He also asked Christians not only to point at the church renovation but should also consider renewing their way of life mostly in this lent period.

On Sunday, the fundraising launch was launched at Immaculate Heart Rubanda Kiizi catholic parish church in Rubanda County West Rubanda District that was presided where the Rubanda County West MP Moses Kamuntu Mwongyera was the Guest of honour as they raised over Ugx 58 million was raised as Kamuntu gave Ugx 10m.

Kamuntu asked Government to consider gazetting land for the residents before sending them out of wetland saying that these wetlands have been productive especially to farmers as different activities have been done there for more than 100 years saying that the decision will cripple their livelihood and drive people into poverty.

“We have been in swamps for over 100 years where does NEMA want the people to go we even told the President about that and we agreed with him that if the people are to go government needs to get an alternative place but not just chase them away as NEMA is doing now,” said Kamuntu.

He also urged people to get vaccination against Covid 19 for it is still circulating amongst people saying that he has been twice been affected by COVID 19 that on Christmas day while he was in church he became unwell and was taken to hospital they diagnosed him with covid19.

“I am asking the people to go for vaccination against Covid 19 as for me I have been attacked twice the last being on Christmas day while I was in church I became unwell as lost my breath when I went for tests they found I had covid 19,” said Kamuntu.
