Kalungi Charged With Manslaughter, Remanded To Luzira
Adam Suleiman Kalungi, the boyfriend of fallen Butaleja Woman Member of Parliament was on Monday afternoon charged with three counts of manslaughter and remanded to Luzira Prison.
Makindye Court Chief Magistrate Esther Nambayo sent Kalungi to Luzira until tomorrow at 9am when he is expected to appear in Court and provided a state lawyer.
It is alleged that on the 14th of December, while at Buziga, a Kampala suburb, Kalungi caused the unlawful death of Cerina Nebanda.
Cerinah Nebanda passed away on December 14 at Mukwaya General Clinic in Kampala and an autopsy report revealed that multiple chemicals including cocaine and heroin were found in her blood samples.
Kalungi who in a separate statement said that Nebanda mistakenly sniffed heroin which she found in his living room was also charged with unlawful possession of narcotic drugs.
After her death, Kalungi took to his heels after delivering the former legislator together with friend to Mukwaya General Clinic where she was pronounced dead.
However, Adam Kalungi was arrested last week in the Kenyan port city of Mombasa by Kenyan authorities and deported to Uganda. He is the key suspect in the death of the former Butaleja lawmaker whose death has since raffled feathers among some members of Uganda’s Political class.
On Sunday, the Police took Kalungi to his residence in Buziga where he was last seen with Nebanda on the fateful day in what he Police described as a reconstruction of the crime scene.
