While we await a detailed report from the police, initial investigations point to speeding and vehicles in faulty mechanical conditions as the cause of the accident.
The traffic police must step up vigilance on the roads, especially ensuring that vehicles that are not roadworthy are not on the roads. Speed limits must also be observed.
We also appeal to motorists to drive carefully and be disciplined on the roads. Even without the police, passengers should prevail over errant drivers.
We salute members of the public who supported rescue efforts to help save lives. We also thank Government Ministers, the Police and other officials for promptly coordinating the response.
We also thank the medical teams at various health facilities where the injured are being treated from, for the good job they are doing.

  1. It is better for the gvt first to ensure the drivers in the country are well trained. Not only be sorry for people to die instead of doing they work. May almighty God help those families who lost they dear ones. Thanks

  2. I am a taxi driver operating on the same Gulu kampala road.the big problem is our traffic officers b’se they ignore things like tractors, they don’t inspect b’se it dose not give them daily money but taxis and other trucks they stop us 7 times befor end of jurney what they inspect is our poket not the vheicle. They must inspect all vheicles including tractors so that we reduce road accidens.
