Kisoro Teacher Held over Defilement

A primary school teacher in Kisoro district has been arrested by Police on charges of defilement.

The 20-year old man was yesterday arrested after he allegedly defiled a 15-year-old girl and pupil at Kavumaga Primary School in the same locality.

Oshabahebwa Ronald is a teacher at Creamland Nursery and Primary school in Bukimbiri Sub County.
The teacher is a native of Nyamiyaga village, Iremera parish in Bukimbiri Sub County in Kisoro district.

It is alleged that the defilement occurred on October 28, 2014 at Nyamasinda village, where the school is located.

It is alleged that Orishaba found the young girl on her way home coming from Kavumaga primary school and convinced her to return to his house where he lured her into sex.

Orishaba was caught red handed by the parents of the girl at his house at around 9pm from where he was arrested and taken to Kisoro prison.

The girl’s parents say they started looking for her after she did not return home at the expected time.

Mwiza Lawrence, the girl’s uncle, says that they were told by the neighbors that they had seen the teacher with their daughter walking towards his house.

Oshabahebwa, however, denies the charges. He says that he was only helping the girl revise for her Primary Leaving Examinations slated for next week.

Kisoro District Police commander Bosco Otim says that the police has concluded their investigations and the suspect is set to face court and answer charges of defilement.
