Fufa President Eng. Moses Magogo has clashed out at the CECAFA leadership and demanded the the resignation of its president Dr. Mutassim Sirelkhatim Gafaar.
The Fufa chief expressed his displeasure at the running of CECAFA in a letter, dated Monday 30th November, to the Secretary General Nicholas Musonye.
Magogo noted that the current head of the regional body is too busy for the association, a situation that he thinks is hindering the progress of football in the region.
“This is to officially express FUFA’s position on the current governance challenge at CECAFA,” Fufa President’s letter partly reads.
“Our opinion as a member of CECAFA is that the President of CECAFA should resign his position having failed to conduct any business over 2 years. This is in the best interest of the game.”
Mutasim was elected on November 21 2015 after beating former Fufa president Lawrence Mulindwa by three votes.
His regime has struggled to organise the flagship tournaments; Cecafa senior and club championship. The two have not been held in the last two years and with just two months to end of year there seems to be no plan to have the tournaments organised.
