Man Kills Wife, Mutilates Her Vagina
Police at the Uganda-Kenya border town of Malaba are looking for a man identified as Sapiri Paulo who is thought to have raped his wife before stabbing her to death on Sunday night.
The couple have been residents of Akolodongo central village in Malaba town council since August this year. The woman has been identified as one Namaganda.
The man is said to have raped his wife and then mutilated her vagina by inserting a wooden stick. He then locked the house and fled.
On breaking into the house, Police found used condoms at Namaganda’s bedside.
The area LC I chairperson, Joseph Emojong says residents became concerned after a foul smell started coming out of the closed rental.
It took a combined effort of the police from Tororo and Malaba on Tuesday afternoon to break into the house. Namaganda’s body was found rotting.
Emojong says he was informed by neighbours that the couple had had domestic misunderstandings for a long time. Sapiri is reported to have accused Namaganda of infidelity, over consumption of alcohol and returning home late.
Namaganda is said to have fled from their home two weeks ago and stayed at Kamushosho center in Malaba. She had only recently returned to their marital home.
Residents say that though Sapiri is said to have another home in Kawempe, Kampala, they think he is hiding out in his ancestral village. His village is in Wakabale center in Bugobero in Manafwa District.
By time of filing this story, five persons had already recorded statements with the police.
Namaganda’s body has been transported to Tororo Municipal mortuary for a postmortem.
Michael Odongo, the Bukedi Regional Police Spokesperson confirmed the development. He says the latest incident brings to four the number of women killed in a similar manner in Malaba town this year alone.
