Manchester United have edged closer to finalizing Mario Mandzukic’s signing

Manchester United are on the brink of completing the signing of Mario Mandzukic from Juventus.

The Croatian striker has agreed on personal terms with United until 2022 and will earn £6.2million a year – a 35 percent increase to the wage he was on at Juventus.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees Mandzukic as the ideal replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is still expected to leave before Thursday’s deadline.

Lukaku is currently part of a swap deal for Paulo Dybala, but should the Argentine reject a move to Old Trafford, Juventus will still try to land the striker.

The Serie A champions will either reinvest the money from Mandzukic’s sale, which is believed to be in the region of £15m or may incorporate him into a swap deal for Lukaku.

Juventus were more than willing to offload Mandzukic this summer after it was determined he would not suit Maurizio Sarri’s style of play.
