Mbabazi, an independent presidential candidate in the just concluded presidential elections was yesterday afternoon told by police that him and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s Besigye who has been blocked form leaving his home for the past week are planning “something sinister.”

“I have not been able to visit with Kizza Besigye today. The police gave two reasons: 1) for my own security 2) The second reason the police gave was that I was plotting something sinister with Besigye. How unfortunate that Uganda Police can think so.” Amama Mbabazi said.

Mbabazi noted that “arresting people like that will not silence democracy. They have stopped people from accessing his (Besigye) house.”

He was blocked at roadblock in Gayaza and forced to drive back to his home located in Kololo.
FDC president Rt. Maj. General Mugisha Muntu, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago among other top party officials were also blocked from accessing Besigye’s home.

Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura said police will keep “monitoring” Besigye movements because he “has not retracted his statements of defiance and incitement to violence.”
