Uganda Kobs captain and Vipers SC forward, Farouk Miya has been voted best sports personality for the month of May by Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) at the annual board meeting held at Imperial Royale hotel in Kampala on Monday morning.

The 19 year old on form attacker won the May 2015 accolade with a 5 points difference ahead of athlete Ronald Musagala who came second and the rally crew of Crew of Unisan Bakunda and Arthur Blick finishing third.

Miya was instrumental in Vipers’ title campaign that saw them win the 2014/2015 Azam Uganda Premier trophy.

He scored crucial goals which helped them clinch the championship, scoring against rival contenders Sc Villa and the only goal of the day over Jinja side BUL FC as Vipers confirmed their second league title at Buikwe.

His abilities have also been seen at the U23 team after scoring twice in the Kobs tie against Rwanda in both legs to send the Kobs to the next round that will see them face the young pharaohs of Egypt.

Miya was also named the 2014/15 Azam Uganda Premier League best player.

He completed the season with 10 goals, five below the League’s top scorer Robert Ssentongo.
