Museveni, Magufuli To Break Pipeline Ground

Tanzanian President John Magufuli will visit Uganda this week and will lay break the ground for the construction of a multi million dollar oil pipeline project.

Magufuli will be in the country for three days and the foundation stone he will lay with President Yoweri Museveni at Masaka will mark the start of construction of the proposed 1,445 kilometre pipeline.

The Pipeline which will be heated is designed to run from hoima district the heartland of the oil industry in Uganda, south to Tanzania and onwards to the Indian ocean port of Tanga in Tanzania.

The ceremony scheduled for this weekend was originally supposed to take place at Kabaale Village in Hoima but Magufuli refused and Masaka was agreed as a compromise.

Key to Magufuli’s refusal to go to Kabaale in Hoima was his disinterest in traveling in Uganda airspace by helicopter.

Magufuli is however traveling by road across Tanzania and will be picked up at the border post of Mutukula.
