Mzee Kaguta laid To Rest
President Yoweri Museveni’s father Mzee Amos Kaguta was on Sunday afternoon laid to rest at his ancestral home in Nshwere, Rwakitura, Kiruhura District with mourners praising him as a God fearing man who lived long because of his closeness to God.
Mzee Amos passed away on Friday 22 February at International Hospital Kampala.
In his message, President Museveni urged mourners to create their own wealth and do not fight over that left by parents. “Children who are the repository of wisdom and knowledge should take care of parents” the President advised
President Museveni thanked his sister Baryereta and the nurse for looking after Mzee Amos until he rested. He gave both of them 10 cows each.
While addressing mourners, First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni who is also a daughter in Law to the fallen old man said Amos lived long because he feared God.
She added “God says those who humble themselves he will lift, Amos humbled himself and God lifted him higher… through Amos, God has proved to all that his words are true” Janet said.
The First Lady also benefited from his humility saying “Amos reaped big by being humble throughout his life. The love of God covers space, eternity and Amos is with God” she said.
She concluded by paying tribute Ugandans who have shown us overwhelming love and solidarity, an indication that we are still human despite the differences.
The funeral was attended by opposition figures Olara Otunu, Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) President, Betty Kamya Uganda Federal Alliance leader, Cecilia Ogwal and Amanya Mushega who represented Forum for Democratic Change President Mugisha Muntu among others.
The burial of Mzee Kaguta was slightly delayed as the mourners awaited Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete who was the only mourner allowed to lay a wreath on the casket of the deceased.
Special Forces Commander Brigadier Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is also a grandson of the late Amos described him as a great man who loved peoplecherished honesty and believed in industrious people.

Besingye,thinks he a rock,Ugandans are there seeing,if iwas the one i would have gone there personally to suprise the nation,what people thought, he did it.
I strongly agree that Mzee Kaguta in stille very good values in his children and grand children,visibly undeniably look at the products of his home,President,Ministers,Medical Doctor,senior army officers (Generals) etc.truely he is a nationalist.I challenege all Ugandan to emulate Mzee kaguta.I now have the task and challenge to bring up my children the way he did.He was not rich at the begining;i’am also not rich and it can not stop me from educating my children,instilling fear of God in them,teaching them to love and respect people and teaching them to work and and
