National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has said the party is remaining with one problem, poverty which it is fighting.

Addressing supporters at Boma grounds in Soroti yesterday afternoon, Museveni said government is focusing on wealth creation to fight poverty.

“We are remaining with one problem, fighting poverty in our homes. That is why we advise you on the methods of wealth creation,” he said.

He advised residents to dig dams and keep water during the ongoing rainy season. “With a lot of rain when we are not well organized is not good. We need to know how to store the water,” he said, adding, “according to my experience as a farmer, when there is a lot of rain, we need dams to store it rather than flooding everywhere.”

President Museveni said some time ago, he had an argument with people who said peace would not be restored in the region, but he opined that he has achieved it.

“You remember some years ago there was an argument that there will never be peace in this region. But now we have peace. The people in IDP’s have settled back, cattle rustlers are no more, because NRM is clear headed,” he noted.

Museveni said he called an NRM caucus in 2006 and they agreed with him to put more money in roads construction. He said all people can now witness the changes.
