Onyango – We need to fight for Uganda
Uganda Cranes first choice goalkeeper Denis Onyango has said they have not lost hope yet and will continue fighting hard for the country in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.
Onyango who plies his trade with South Africa league champions Mamelodi Sundowns told MTNFootball.com on Thursday night that although they lost two games to Togo and are now third in Group E of the qualifiers, they have not lost hope yet.
“We know our next games against Ghana in Kampala will mean so much to us and we shall treat it with a lot of seriousness,” said Onyango who has continued to warm the bench in South Africa despite his good form for the national side.
The Cranes will need to stop table leaders Ghana on November 15 if they hope of getting their qualification campaign back on track. After one draw and a win, Cranes have four points. Ghana lead the Group with eight points, while Togo’s Sparrow Hawks who started with two losses and won back to back games against Uganda are now second on six points, while Guinea are bottom with four points, but a poor goal difference.
