Amon Takwenda one of the accountants involved in the embezzlement scandal that rocked the Office of the Prime Minister last year has died.

Amon was rushed to Naguru Hospital on Saturday but was pronounced dead on arrival after his relatives had rushed him there in a bid to save his life.

The deceased accountant was among the suspects that appeared before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in November last year to answer for the disappearance of Shs20 billion from the office of the Prime Minister.

The money was part of the mismanaged Shs50 billion of foreign aid meant for the Peace, Recovery and Development Program (PRDP) in Northern Uganda.

His relatives said he died of stress and diabetes.
