PICTORIAL: MOFA, Diplomats Join to Plant Five Hectares of Forest

Kakiri, Wakiso: Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in-charge of International Affairs Hon. Henry Okello-Oryem officiated at a Tree Planting occasion that took place at Nakindiba Central Forest Reserve, Kakiri, Wakiso District.
The event is part of the activities Organized by the Ministry to mark this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) under the theme; “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid -19 world”.
According to the officials at MOFA, the objectives of the exercise include among others contributing to the protection of the Environment, increasing the participation of female Diplomatic Corps in Environmental Conservation and inspiring Women in Leadership.
The exercise is in line with the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action adopted by the 50th Session of the UN General Assembly which recognized that Women have an important role to play in the Development of Sustainable and Ecological approaches to Natural Resource Management, said officials at the Ministry.
The event also brings together Lady Heads of Diplomatic and Consular Missions, International Organizations, Ugandan Foreign Service Officers, Local Government Leaders, the National Forestry Authority and other Senior Government Officials.
