Police Raid FDC Offices, 8 Staff Members Arrested

Police has raided Najjanankumbi Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) head offices arresting staff members.

According to initial reports, eight data entry clerks were arrested.

Police also denied party president Maj. Gen. Mugisha access to the office premises.

Police forcefully entered the office and picked declaration forms of the presidential elections.

FDC hasn’t dropped plans to tally its own results.

Kizza Besigye, the party presidential candidate rejected results of the presidential elections announced by the electoral commission.

According the results announced on Saturday, he scored 35.4 per cent while Museveni got 60.8 per cent of the total votes.

The raid came hours after the arrest of Forum for Democratic Change presidential candidate Kizza Besigye who was arrested as he attempted to walk from his Kasangati home to Electoral Commission offices to pick results.


“Tomorrow I am going to the Electoral Commission to receive their results… If you are in Kampala join me to walk to the Electoral Commission. We leave my gate at Kasangati at 9:00AM,” Besigye said yesterday.

He is currently detained at Naggalama Police station.
