Iganga – Police in Iganga, on Sunday, confirmed the rescue of a 4-year-old boy allegedly stolen by child-traffickers who lured him before the abduction.

The police reunited the boy with his family after the disappearance on Tuesday, 13 July 2021, last week.

James Mubi, the Busoga East Police Spokesperson told this reporter that three suspects are in custody at the Central Police Station in Iganga charged with Aggravated trafficking in persons vide CRB 315/2021  of CPS Iganga.

It’s alleged that the trio, had a meeting a day before the abduction discussing how they would kidnap Michael Ainebyona, a son to UPDF Officer Nelson Mugisha and Mary Tumukwese.

‘’The matter was reported at police and subsequent efforts to find out the whereabouts of the child were stepped up’’, said Mubi.

Upon arresting the prime suspect commonly known as Uncle Rogers who took poison seemingly because of the guilt burden and is admitted at Nakavule hospital, he revealed that his girlfriend Justine Namugere, 34, and Brenda Nakaziba 18 were involved in the meeting to have Mary’s baby kidnapped though the motive is yet to be established.

‘’In a space of two weeks Iganga police has rescued two juveniles from the hands of wrong people’’, added Mubi,

Mubi also urged parents to be cautious about leaving their children to others or letting them move out of their sight to avoid being abducted.
