S.6 Results Released, Arts Best Done Subjects
The minister of Education and Sports Jessica Alupo on Tuesday morning released last year’s Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education results indicating a general improvement from the previous year with Art subjects the best performed.
There was improvement in History, Entrepreneurship, Geography, Literature, Chemistry and Biology.
The number of students taking math at A’level has increased while absenteeism among students has also decreased.
Girls performed better than boys in Arts, Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) registered an improvement compared to the previous year.
42,341 of the students who sat for the exams were female. A total of 111,456 students sat for the exams.
Examination body UNEB has blacklisted some centres and invigilators involved in Exam malpractice; the affected schools include Nagalama Muslim, Kampala Hall, Gomba Global College and Ambrolini College. They are under investigations over the same matter.
UNEB has also cancelled the results of students from Lugogo Hall, Valley College Bushenyi, Sharing Centre, Lord’s Maid Vocational School Njeru, Gomba College and Abim Academy over examination malpractices.
Education Minister Jessica Alupo questioned why many government schools only take students with distinctions for science combination.
She also decried the rampant examinations given to students in candidate classes saying at least 9 weeks are lost annually as a result. She vowed to crack down on teachers who do not keep time.
Fagil Mandy, the UNEB chairman said the body is to dismiss head teachers and inspectors and de-register all those implicated in exam malpractice warning to teachers who fail students that “we shall get you out like a jigger”.

sorry for those students whose exams have been cancelled. wish schools could stop this bad behaviour. we the parents and the students suffer, but the school continues to get money and the perpetrators (teachers, h/teachers) go away free. its a pitty
