Ndejje University Leave It Late To Crush The Saints

The Saints travelled to Ndejje University in Luwero on Sunday hoping to keep their winning streak intact in the FUFA Big League but unfortunately lost 1-0.

SempagaraNdejje University Football Club who had been stunned by minnows Hope Doves earlier in the week recovered just in time to score a late second half goal to the delight of their Luweero fans who had put up through a 1-1 draw last season before travelling to Namboole and fall 3-1 last season.

Saints entered the tie with injury woes and had Alex Kitata, Cres Mayombwe and Aziz Mubiru all out.

Coach Mark Twinamatsiko’s side had played 5 games without a loss. “We didn’t play to our strengths, we didn’t create enough chances. Congratulations to Ndejje. We’ll correct the mistakes we made today and work harder and we shall be ready for the next game against Water FC,” the youthful tactician said after the game.

From kickoff, Ndejje lived dangerously, but The Saints’ finishing also left a lot to be desired in what was in all a frustrating opening half-an-hour for the hosts. The university side finally found their goal in the 82nd minute through Steven Ayo but SamMatovu nearly restored parity for the visitors three minutes later when he chipped the ball but his effort is frustrated by Ndejje goalie Hannigton Sebuliba.

Saints’ next opponent on November 23rd, Water F.C climbed top of Rwenzori group with 16 points after they continued with their impressive start of the start – winning at their Mengo home 2-0 over Kamuli district’s Namasagali F.C.Water thus remains the only unbeaten side in the Rwenzori group and the entire Big league.

The other Sunday results in the FUFA Big league were the 1 all draw of Synergy and Artland at Masaka Recreational Stadium and Wandegeya’s narrow 1-0 victory over Cream land from Kabale.
