SHOCK NEW TWIST! Parliament Thieves Linked to Same Gang in BoU Break-In Probe…Is There More Than Meets The Eye?
A shocking new twist has emerged in the ongoing probe into the sensational Bank of Uganda break-in after investigators linked suspects in the heist to an earlier theft at the Parliamentary Gym.
After reviewing CCTV footage, police established that some of the suspects arrested over the recent Bank of Uganda burglary were also involved in the 2024 break-in and theft at Parliament.
The break-in at the central bank occurred on the night of May 4, 2026, at the heavily guarded Bank of Uganda headquarters on Plot 45 Kampala Road near City Square, where at least seven high-end laptops were stolen.
The daring raid triggered panic within security circles and immediately prompted operatives from the Crime Intelligence unit to arrest at least nine counterterrorism police officers.
Those charged and remanded include Sgt. Amone Joseph, PC Ouma Wilson, PC Omach Thomas, PC Mungusho Shafic, PC Oryono Brian, Alex Onduri, Solomon Orache and Morish Ocen.
But the probe widened after security personnel also apprehended four other suspects identified as Boaz Kule Michael, 19, a casual worker from Wabigalo Zone in Makindye Division; Kabuya Ramadhan alias Rama, 27, a bus conductor; Rubangakene Isaac alias Izoo, a mobile phone accessories dealer; and Oedo Jorem Jude, 43, a computer technician from Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, further investigations and analysis of CCTV footage later connected the suspects to the earlier Parliament gym theft.
“Investigations established that on 23rd June 2024, a television set and JBL loud speaker were stolen from the Parliamentary Gym. During interrogation, Kule Boaz confessed to committing the theft and revealed the identities of his accomplices,” Owoyesigyire stated.
Subsequent police operations led to the arrest of Kamulegeya Amiri alias Musilamu and Balyejusa Faluku.
During a search at Balyejusa’s home in Namasuba, detectives recovered a JBL loudspeaker believed to be part of the stolen Parliamentary Gym property.
“When Kule Boaz was arraigned, investigators said they had reviewed CCTV footage showing how suspects broke into the Parliament gym two years ago. The footage linked him to that earlier case of office break-in and theft at Parliament. Efforts to recover the remaining exhibits are ongoing,” Owoyesigyire said.
The suspects are now expected to appear before the City Hall Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of office break-in and theft.
The latest revelations have intensified scrutiny surrounding the dramatic break-in at Bank of Uganda, which many viewed as one of the biggest security embarrassments in recent years.
Critics say the fact that burglars reportedly spent nearly three hours inside one of Uganda’s most heavily protected financial institutions without detection exposed disturbing weaknesses in the country’s security systems.
Others believe the thieves may have received inside help, pointing to the targeted theft of specific high-end laptops and the sophisticated manner in which the operation was executed.
The revelation also comes at a time when another probe is ongoing targeting corruption at Parliament.
Investigators are also pursuing claims that the break-in could have been staged to destroy sensitive information as the wider corruption probe continues to send shockwaves through security and government circles.
