Ssimbwa rues ‘stupid’ error
SC Villa coach Sam Ssimbwa is adamant they deserved more from the 1-0 home defeat to rivals KCC in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) on Friday.
Youngster Paul Mucureezi’s second half solo effort was enough to subject the Jogoos to their first home defeat of the campaign.
In a tightly contested fixture, Villa striker Karim Ndugwa’s back pass was intercepted by Mucureezi; the former Mutundwe Lions star racing clear of the hosts backline to slot calmly past goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato.
“We played well enough but lost out to a stupid error,” said Ssimbwa.
“But such is the nature of the game. But I’m confident we shall address this in our next game.”
Ssimbwa’s counterpart George Nsimbe admits they did not particularly play well but that what matters is the result.
“We could have played better but the most important thing is we left Mityana with three points,” he said.
Villa stay second with 13 points, three behind new leaders Vipers while victory moved KCC to within two points of the Jogoos.
