He is considered by many music analysts as Uganda’s best song writer in addition to owning one of the country’s modern music studios, Sikia Media Services in Ntinda.
Singer Sylver Kyagulanyi of the Olunaku Luno fame has decided to add his weight to the fight against the deadly HIV AIDS.
Together with other popular artists that include Cleo Patra, Aziz Azion, Tonix, Ray of the Kasenyanku fame, Maurice Hasa, Nicki Nora, Nava, Dr Hilderman they are now working with Reach a Hand Uganda (RAHU) an NGO headed by Humphrey Nabimanya in the anti HIV AIDS Campaign dubbed ‘One week in December – Keep the Promise’.
The Reach a Hand Foundation Uganda (RAHU) is a charity Organization founded in 2010 by a team of three young people who believe that every child should have a chance to equal opportunities regardless of their social, economic or religious background.
The campaign has been on since 1st December and will end on the 8th of this very month. HIV testing has been part of the activities to in the drive including holding placards with messages against the scourge.
According to Ntinda based Sikia Media Services personnel manager Asaba Emma, the fact that people consider artists role models, Kyagulanyi and others’ input in the campaign is key in spreading the message about living responsible lives and creating awareness.
“It is good that Uganda’s top artists are part of the campaign, the position they hold in society gives them the charismatic advantage to influence how people live since many people look up to them for inspiration,” Mbanza Paul a teacher at Namirembe Hillside said.
RAHU CEO and NBS TV Youth Voice presenter Humphrey Nabimanya also hailed the move by artists to come on board saying as models in society, “Their impact is always identifiable because of the value people attach to their influence”.
