He said Mirundi has a constitutional right to speak and those who are not happy with what he says should go to court.

Adolf Mbaine a media lecturer at Makerere University recently said that the move by UCC to block Tamale Mirundi is backward and dangerous.

“The actions of the UCC against Mr. Tamale Mirundi are clearly backward and dangerous, and shows what unrestrained authority even by a public body/regulator can result into. The UCC at times acts like a ‘captured’ regulator. This is horrifying.”

The Uganda Communications Commission (UUC) last week issued a warning to a number of media houses over the continued hosting of Tamale Mirundi who usually comments on current political events.

UCC described Mirundi programs as profane and abusive and they violate section 29(a) and section 31 of the Uganda Communications Act 2013, however media houses including government owned Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) have deified the orders.

Yesterday, Mirundi posted on his Facebook page that he was hosted on Top Radio.

“I am live on Top Radio, join me as we discuss. Today, he said he was going to be hosted by NBS TV. “Tune in today on NBS TV live talk-show; I will be hosted as usual from 9-10 am.”
