Tanzania Ministry of Energy and Mineral Officials Scoop Oil and Gas Certification at Victoria University

As promised, the journey for Victoria University becoming the best in the region seems to be drawing closer with each passing day.
Last week, the university’s Department who were attending an international Certificate course in ‘Managing Safety in Oil and Gas Industry’
Head of Petroleum and Energy Studies Department at the university, Dr Drake Kyalimpa told Red pepper that, the participants were equipped with skills in managing health, safety and environment efficiently and effectively within the Oil and Gas industry and other non-oil and gas sectors.
Dr. Kyalimpa added that, their course is accredited by the Institute of Occupation Safety and Health (IOSH), on behalf of IOSH.
“The course was conducted by Global Environmental managers, UK and coordinated by Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy (ACEMP),” he said.
He further explained that the delegates were able to achieve their objectives of managing safety and course content that included; health safety and environment regulations (HSE), Management systems, risk management and control, accident investigation and reporting/lessons from oil and gas industry accidents, specialized hazards/safe systems of work, environment and waste management and managing in contract environment.
This course has attracted a number of students from both East African countries and other parts of the world.
