The Acholi province team beat the Buganda province team in a FUFA drum match 2 – 1 at Bomah stadium in Kitgum District in the Quarter finals first leg.

Fred Agandu scored the first goal for Acholi province in the 64th minute and Francis Onekalit sealed the win in the 65th minute.

Frank Sebuffu had earlier alone scored what turned out to be the only goal for Buganda Province in the 23rd minute of the game.

The Acholi province is  comprised  of Gulu,Kitgum, Agago,Pader,Amuru,Nwoya and Lamwo Districts while Buganda province comprises of Bukomasimbi, Kiboga, Kayunga,Bukwei,Kalangala,Kyotera,Butambala,Luwero,Gomba,Kyankwanzi and Buvuma Districts.

FUFA drum was officially launched in January 2018 by FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo and it is played by 16 provinces and managed by the FUFA regulations.

For a team to present a coach, he must have the CAF C license and the players eligible to play are those whose biological fathers or mothers are descendants of a province or lived in that province for a period of more than 10 years and a player cannot play in 2 provinces.

With a grand prize of 100 million UGX on table for the winner, the teams are grouped into 4 groups and FUFA meets the accommodation, transportation expenses of the teams.

Going by the slogan “celebrating our ancestry” the league was created by FUFA as a tap for talents in Uganda, promoting talent and for big  clubs to pick players.

FUFA drum besides being a league it’s a source of entertainment to the locals. More details to follow.
