17 students of Wanyange Girls’ Senior Secondary School in Jinja District have been suspended indefinitely for allegedly sneaking mobile phones into dormitories. Ms Deborah Basekanakyo confirmed.

Shorly after issuing the suspension letters, the parents of the affected girls 13 have pointed fingers and carrying blames to the Head mistress. Some parents say, the headmistress acted inhuman considering the students are in their final years.

According to an insider at the school, 4 students were asked to come with their parents daily during UNEB exams and the other students were asked to return after 3 weeks.

It is alleged that the girls were keeping phones with some teachers and guards.

Opposed to the suspension, the Jinja City Education officer, Ms Amina Mutesi described the decision as “harsh to both students and their parents paying school fees.
