Tusker Champions Uganda Cranes Held By Rwanda’s Amavubi

Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars twice came from behind to settle for a 2-all draw against Uganda Cranes in an international friendly played yesterday at Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali.

Uganda took the lead through Kyeyune in the 29th minute. However, the hosts were determined to show their home fans what they are capable with Meddi Kagere restoring parity with a minute to half time. Both teams went into the break drawing 1 – 1.

The Tusker CECAFA Champions the cranes looked like they would carry the game with the resumption of the second half.

Last year’s player of the year in the Kenyan Premier League Dan Serunkuma provided a through pass for Tony Odur who was however fouled in the penalty area and the referee had no choice but to award on which was swiftly taken by Serunkuma to restore Uganda Cranes lead in the 68 minute.

Serunkuma scored on his debut for the national team.

From this moment, the cranes tried to keep the wasps of Rwanda at bay but the host’s fighting spirit paid off  with seven minutes left when Pappy Sibomana slotted home the equalizer
