UGANDA @ 50: M7 Goes Ipad
PRESIDENT YOWERI Museveni proved that science is the way to go in the next golden jubilee when he discarded his traditional foolscaps and read his speech from an ipad. Museveni pulled the technological masterstroke while leading worshippers through the golden jubilee prayer at Mandela Stadium in Namboole.
Hitherto known for being a bit conservative, especially when it comes to jumping onto the bandwagon of hi-tech gadgets, the President excited the faithful that turned up for the prayers, when he led them through the prayer that he was reading from a black ipad. Before he led the excited gathering through the prayer that mainly focused on repentance and reconciliation, the President had first delivered a speech in which he cautioned the youth against early romps.
Quoting the biblical scripture of Ecclesiastics 3, Museveni reminded the faithful; who were mainly youth, of the need to do one thing at a time if they are to succeed in life. “There are four things young people need in life; fearing the lord, concentrating on their studies and work, keeping fit by exercising through sports, and helping parents whenever they get the time,” Museveni said. He was then quick to caution the youth that he had not included the issue of girls and boys (sex) because it has its time and must come last. “Doing these things early is like eating hot food because it surely burns the cheeks.
You therefore need to be patient,” Museveni said. Museveni also thanked American gospel musician Judy Jacobs for her electrifying performance, especially as she took the worshippers through her hit song, Days of Elijah. Shortly after his presentation, he stepped aside and made way for first lady Janet Museveni, who thanked the worshippers for turning up to pray for the nation. As she spoke however, Museveni’s aide took him through the black ipad, before handing it over to him. The President then wore his spectacles and led worshippers through the lengthy jubilee prayer.
His aide however, closely followed the President as he read and would occasionally scroll the ipad for his boss to read on. At the end of the prayer, Museveni prayed for God’s blessings on his people, and then rewarded his aide with a handshake. The ipad move simply crowned a long day of the President’s scientific adventure, as he had just switched on the 250mw Bujagali hydropower dam earlier in the day.
Musisi Unfazed
Meanwhile, while speaking at the same prayer festival, Kampala City Executive Director warned her haters that their days are from over as she will continue executing her work with renewed devotion. Quoting Ezekiel 36:33-36, the no-nonsense iron lady noted that upon her appointment as city ED, God gave her a vision to cleanse the city and make it a new place altogether.
Musisi read: “ Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. And they shall say, This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities have become fenced, and are inhabited. Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it…” She said she was working as per God’s instructions and therefore nobody will stop her. She stressed her commitment to development of the city by quoting Jeremiah 1:17-19.
Other worshippers at the jubilee prayer that was organised by Uganda jubilee network included businessman Andrew Rugasira, media guru Barbara Kaija and several city pastors like David Kiganda, Joseph Serwadda, among others.
It was good the president took the nation through a prayer. Let people confess and repent of corruption and other misdeeds.
The re-orientation of our city doesnt need the K.C.C.A only all cocerned govt bodies should be consulted as rampant demotion may affect the economy of the country.
The Bible is a very interesting book! It is interesting it talks about cleaning cities also! Can you imagine that it also talks about silver Jubillee also? Check Lev. 28: 10 and the message it sends to ugandans on their Jubillee celebrations!
he should also preach to his ministers and other public servants to be faithful to public funds by not emblezzling the pulic funds
Put on‘l experiment with so desperately, the very best elements show up if you happen to typically demand the theifs to.
