Uganda defeated Guinea 2-0 in an Afcon 2015 qualifier at the Mandel a National Stadium Namboole in Kampala on Wednesday to climb to the top of Group E, at least for the time being.
The home team win has now pushed Uganda Cranes to the top of Group E with four points after they upset star-studded Ghana 1-1 in Kamusi on Saturday.
Interestingly, Uganda scored both through a first half brace from striker Geoffrey Massa to go top of group E with four points same as Ghana but Uganda has a better goal difference.
Guinea now sit third with three points while Togo who lost 3-2 to Ghana in Lome are bottom with no point.
Before Wednesday’s victory in front of their home fans, Uganda had managed only one win in four previous meetings with Guinea.
In October, the high-riding Uganda, under the tutelage of the experienced Micho Sredojevic, will take on Togo at home and away.
They will welcome Togo to Namboole on October 10th and four days later they will be in Lome.
