Ten people including soldiers of Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) have been killed and two others critically injured in attack on a local bar in Bombo town council.

The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning at Yumbe boys’ bar which is a few metres from Bombo police station in Bombo town council, Luweero district.

The Central-Eastern Police Spokesperson Lameck Kigozi has identified the dead as Sergeant Onesmus Adule and his wife, Corporal Isaac Osere, Warrant Officer Francis Musana, and Private Okedi, all attached to Bombo Military Barracks.

Others include Sergeant Joel Obote attached to Magamaga army barracks, Sarah Akol, Wilfred Olebi a guard at the ba , David Oketcha and the bar owner locally known as Maama Sarah.

Two other unidentified civilians were also rushed to Mulago Referral Hospital in critical state after surviving with multiple gunshot wounds.

Lameck Kigozi explains that the attacker is thought to be a UPDF officer attached to Bombo Military barracks. He reportedly stormed the bar at midnight and opened fire at the officers and civilians who were in the bar to celebrate international women’s day .

He explains that nine people died on spot well while David Oketcha died an hour later from excessive loss of blood.

Kigozi adds that the shooter is now on the run while the police and UPDF co-ordinate a man-hunt.

Hadijjah Nabateregga, a witness, says she heard voices raised in argument before the shooting started.

This is second incident in Bombo town council of a UPDF soldier going on a shooting spree.

Last month Private Simon Peter Otenyan attached to Bombo Military barrack shot dead two colleagues and is still on the run.

  1. This week, an attack on Mbuya, now a man in uniform on a shooting spree, why? The government should explain to us why all these incidents are happening in a manner they do other wise we are afraid as Ugandans that taking a beer in a bar may make loose life! who is in charge and should account for the lost lives? are we going back to the dark days?

  2. I think the responsible party should do it’s work well. May the souls of the fallen citizens RIP
