ARUA. The local leaders in the different districts of West Nile have pledged total support to the MK Chairman team ahead of the maiden visit of the First Son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to the region.

Gen. Muhoozi is expected in the West Nile region on October 22, 2022 to launch a sports tournament aimed at identifying, nurturing and developing talent in the region. The newly promoted General will also use the opportunity to interact with the youth and different stakeholders in West Nile.

But before his long-awaited visit to the region, an advance team of MK Chairman Kampala led by the Head of Planning, Emmanuel Ruhakana spent the whole of Thursday meeting the local district leadership in the West Nile region at Desert Breeze Hotel in Arua town.

The leaders including the district Chairpersons, Mayors, Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), District Police Commanders (DPCs), District Internal Security Officers (DISOs) and the Regional Internal Security Officers (RISOs) among others later promised to cooperate with the team to ensure that the planned Muhoozi project activities succeed in the region.

“The visit of the First Son, since they say it is more of talent exploitation and identification, we are ready to receive him and take our gallant talented boys and girls to participate in the tournament because the basic information there is that Gen. Muhoozi is coming for talent identification and has a word to say to these people. As leaders, we have no problem with welcoming the General to West Nile,” Ashraf Mambo, the Koboko district Chairperson said in an exclusive interview with this reporter.

Similarly, Festus Ayikobua, the Maracha district RDC said: “We have no problem with the purpose of Gen. Muhoozi’s visit as leaders, only that one of the things we wanted to know is if we are bringing people from various places, who will take care of these people who are going to come but receiving such a very big General in our region, for us we have no problem because as a region, we love NRM party, we love President Museveni as a person, we also love the First Family, so for us leaders, we are ready to give our support to the team.”

While briefing journalists shortly after the meeting with leaders, Ruhakana said they are in the region to get in touch with the sons and daughters of the soil so that they can guide and bless the various MK Project activities.

“We also need you to join us so that we can all together embrace the move that we are in. We are going to be using sports activities as a tool of uniting ourselves. Through that activity of which we have scheduled to be on 22nd of this month, we have our Guest of Honour who will be General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. He said we should come in advance, give you the program, organize with you and he is going to come and be with us on 22nd October 2022,” Ruhakana explained.

Ruhakana also used the opportunity to launch the MK Chairman Team West Nile headed by Jackson Lee Atima Buti, the Arua Central Division MP who doubles as the Government regional Whip West Nile.

In his remarks, Atima said this is a project that has an agenda of championing the fight against the challenges of unemployment to the youth, promote livelihood for our people and foster unity in diversity.

“The Chairman MK is coming up with innovations starting with sports activities, it will reach to income generating activities and this will make the youth and women settle. So, we are here as the leadership of this West Nile region to receive the team from Kampala and roll the MK Project out,” Atima stated.
