Ugandan music icon Winnie Nakanwagi popularly known as Winnie Nwagi has scooped a mega concert at the famous OVO Wembley Arena in the United Kingdom.
Gorgeous Nwagi will be performing at a massive concert dubbed Celebrating Africa, which will be held on October 21st, 2022.
Nwagi will be sharing the stage with international music icons like Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania, Sarkodie from Ghana, Vegedream from Ivory Coast, and Lojay from Nigeria.
The concert, which is sponsored by Boss Entertainment, is aimed at giving Africans living in the diaspora, especially the UK, an opportunity to experience, enjoy and appreciate African music.
It should be noted however that this concert eradicates allegations that were circulated on social media a few months ago to the effect that Nwagi had been banned from performing in the UK, courtesy of a little known events promoter in London.
Early this year, this little known promoter claimed that she had sued Nwagi for not performing at her concert and instead performing at another gig yet she was the one who had booked and catered for her travel expenses to the UK.
She even claimed to have secured a ban from authorities banning Nwagi from performing at any concert in the UK again.
However, now that she is set to perform at the Wembley Arena, the said promoter has no option but to swallow her words.
The OVO Arena Wembley is one of the UK’s most legendary concert and events venues.
With a rich history that goes back to its days as the Empire Pool and Sports Arena, the building has played host to numerous events including the 1948 and 2012 Olympics and for over 60 years, the 12,500 capacity Arena has seen some of the biggest names in music walk through its doors from Queen, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles to David Bowie, Cher, Michael Jackson, Madonna and ABBA.
Hosting over 100 shows a year, the venue welcomes around 1million fans every year.
Despite being synonymous with live music, OVO Arena Wembley has cemented its status as a sporting venue to rival its neighbouring Stadium.
Adding to a glowing reputation for ice shows, the venue regularly hosts Boxing and MMA events and has hosted WWE Wrestling, Snooker Finals, Premier League Darts, Indoor Hockey Finals, the International Strongman Championships and the World Badminton Championships in recent years – not to mention the scores of family and comedy shows the Arena has to offer.
