Given Singuluma scored an early goal in the second minute to give Zambia a 1-0 lead at the Ebibeyin Stadium.
The TP Mazembe forward capitalized on a defensive lapse to shot the ball past goalkeeper Robert Muteba Kidiaba.
But the DR Congo team fought back strongly attacking in numbers, only for Zambia’s goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene to keep them in the game.
In the second half the DR Congo team who have won the Afcon title once piled more pressure and scored in the 66th minute through Yannick Yala Bolasie.
The striker who plays for English Premier League side Crystal Palace unleashed a hard right footed shot that Mweene failed to stop.
Emmanuel Mayuka who plies his trade for Southampton in the English Premier League tried to fight back for Zambia with good runs, but to no avail.
Zambia who won the Afcon title in 2012 will now have to be at their best in the remaining two Group A games against Tunisia and Cape Verde Islands if they hope to make it to the later stages of the competition.
Before we went to press Tunisia was facing Cape Verde at the same Stadium. Action returns on Monday with Ivory Coast facing Guinea, while Mali take on Cameroon in Group D matches in Malabo
