Archbishop Ntagali Denies Mobilizing For Mbabazi

Stanley Ntagali, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda has denied his alleged involvement in the mobilization campaign for the presidential ambitions of the Premier Amama Mbabazi.
Ntagali was linked to the Mbabazi camp by Alex Kasirivu, an NRM youth mobilizer.
In a leaked recording, Kasirvu is heard telling Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General of Police the Inspector of Police that Mbabazi was meeting top clerics at his home in Kololo including Ntagali to back his presidential ambitions.
He also claims that Ntagali prayed for the wellbeing of Mbabazi’s mobilizers and the success for their campaign.
However, while delivering his Easter message this morning, Ntagali denied the allegations saying it was political propaganda. He also denied meeting Kasirivu at any time. Ntagali asked whoever has evidence linking him to the claims to table it.
Ntagali said the perceived rift between the premier and Museveni over his presidential ambitions was an exaggeration of the media. He said that as far as he is concerned the two are still working together.
Tension in the ruling party started after the NRM caucus passed a resolution endorsing President Yoweri Museveni as the party candidate for the 2016 general elections.
A group of NRM youth leaders rejected the resolution and declared their support for Mbabazi, who has since denied any plans to take on his boss.
Police swung into action and picked up some of youths leaders and charge them before the anti corruption court for abuse of office and bribing NRM delegates to force a delegate’s conference to denounce the caucus resolution.
Day after, Jacqueline Mbabazi, the wife to the prime minister gave Sunday Monitor an interview in, which he accused Kale Kayihura of coaching some youths to frame her husband.
She also threatened to release recordings and expose Kayihura, who she accused of using lumpens to run the police force.
