Besigye is not a Colonel — Kasirye Ggwanga
By Serestino Tusingwire
The outspoken army veteran, Brig. Kasirye Ggwanga has attacked the opposition stalwart Dr. Kizza Besigye saying that the army does not consider him as Colonel and that he is just a civilian in an army uniform.
This comes on the heels of Kasese clashes between the police and royal guards that claimed over 100 lives, in which Besigye reacted by blaming the government and dubbing the incident a massacre and genocide.
“Genocide in Kasese?? Can’t find what else to call this type of massacre! God save our country from this senseless violence.” Besigye tweeted.
In an interview with Sunday monitor, Gwanga said Besigye should keep silent on the issues of Kasese clashes because he is not an army professional and does not have the expertise to discuss the matter.
“Besigye should keep quiet. He is only using this for his politics. We, the professionals in the army, don’t consider him a colonel. He is only a civilian in army uniform who accidentally got a gun out of anger and adventure so let him leave this to us the professionals,” Brig. Ggwanga said.
Brig. Ggwanga however called for the release of Omusinga Mumbere citing the polarizing nature of his incarceration and the possibility of inflaming the population.
