Dew Video Gamers Set For Kampala Finale

After a nationwide hunt for Uganda’s best video gamers, the finalists will on Saturday leave the Hotel Africana People’s Space in Kampala each Shs5 million richer when the curtain comes down on the Mountain Dew Xtreme Gamers Tour 2013.

The grand finale of the Shs700-million competition follows the nationwide hunt, which started in September, for the best video gamers that saw the talent scouts take to several towns like Kampala, Masaka, Mbarara, Jinja, Lira, Gulu, Mbale, among other towns.

Gamers4Mr Innocent Tibayeita, the head of Sales and Marketing, says Mountain Dew created the extreme Gamers Tour because video gaming is a perfect fit for the brand’s attributes.

This year’s challenge, unlike last year’s, was taken to schools, malls, supermarkets, offices, beaches, bars and gaming tailored events throughout the country where more than 5,000 participants took part and from which over 100 gamers automatically qualified for the grand finale. The tour showcased various exciting and daring activities like Motox, Powerisors, Skate boarders, roller skating and chugging all of which are consistent with the Mountain Dew brand proposition.

Gamers1“During the tour, our scouts were looking for a specific number of players per category to participate in the grand finale. There were meant to be 32 players in the sports category and 64 each in the racing and action categories but the level of talent was immense that the numbers per category grew by at least 10 participants,” he said.

Gamers2At the grand finale, participants and revelers will have great entertainment from Navio and Mun G, Dj battles from Dj Shiru, Dj Aluda, Dj Mark and Dj Roger.

Other activities at the grand finale, which will start at 9am, shall include Fussball, Pool, and a free internet hub to keep fans busy and active. The MCs of the day will be Dave Dash, Esco and Hype Man to work the crowd.

Gamers5“ This is going to be a great family day out so bring your kids and get ready to have the most exciting time you have had as you enjoy one of Ugandas finest sodas, Mountain Dew”, Mr Tibayeita said.

Entrance fee is shs5,000 which will come with a free PET bottle.
