One of the buses was destined for the South Sudan capital Juba, while the other was returning to Kampala according to a local news agency. Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, says the buses collided as the drivers tried to dodge a pothole.

Reports indicate that the drivers of the two buses and their conductors are among those who died on spot.
