The Police have arrested their own Ivan Musimenta, a Flying Squad Unit (FSU) operative for allegedly extorting Sh60 million from a fuel dealer, Omar Muhammad.

AIGP Andrew Kaweesi, the Police spokesperson today revealed that Musimenta allegedly connived with Wilber Wanyama, the Kampala North Regional CID boss to extort money from Muhammad.

According to Kaweesi, the two police operatives detained Mohammad for several days at Kawempe Police Station not until he paid them Shs60 million.

“Musimenta and Wanyama extorted over Shs60million from the young man. They detained him over false allegations,” Kaweesi said.

Kaweesi said Muhammad was picked from his residence in Kyengera after being accused of importing fake fuel.

“I have been told that the suspects have so far refunded over Shs30million. We cannot condone people who are problematic in the force,” Kaweesi said.

It should be noted that the very Wanyama is currently in police custody for allegedly embezzling $10,000 that was recovered in an operation against gold robbers last week.

The knowledgeable Wanyama exchanged the exhibit money into fake dollars and the case is still under investigation.
