Everton agree £8m deal to sign Fabian Delph from Manchester City with England star to join on a three-year deal

Everton have agreed on an £8million fee with Manchester City for England international midfielder Fabian Delph.

The 29-year-old is expected to have a medical on Saturday ahead of finalizing terms on a three-year contract.

Marco Silva wants Delph to add experience and leadership to his side as he looks to push on from last season’s promising finish.

He also wants to add a center back and two forwards.

Delph has been used as a squad player in Pep Guardiola’s first two seasons in charge of City.

He has often been deployed as a left back in the absence of Benjamin Mendy.

Guardiola’s side is jetting off to China on Saturday before then traveling to Hong Kong and Japan next week.

The Premier League champions are now expected to leave the England international behind with his switch to Everton likely to be completed in the coming days.

Delph, out of contract next summer, is free to leave the Etihad Stadium in search of regular first-team football and City were originally looking to recoup in the region of £15m but the deal will go no higher than £10m.

He was reduced to just five further appearances for Guardiola in the second half of last season after a sending off during defeat at Leicester City in December.

City have already moved to land midfielder Rodri from Atletico Madrid and re-sign Angelino at left back, pushing Delph down the pecking order in both positions.
