FATHER FROM HELL! Rubanda Monster Man Kills Daughter,10, Son Left Fighting for Life

A father in Rubanda District has been arrested by police over allegations of murdering his 10-year-old daughter and severely torturing his son in a shocking case of domestic violence that has left the local community in disbelief.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police spokesman has confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Turihohabwe Mathius who was arrested in the early hours of June 1, 2025, after allegedly beating his two children Natumanya Fortune, aged 10, and her brother Owomugisha—at their home in Kanaba “A” Village ,Bubaare Ward, Bubaare Town Council.
Maate says that preliminary police reports, the incident began on the evening of May 31. At around 5pm when Turihohabwe reportedly tied up Owomugisha, accusing him of stealing Irish potatoes from a garden although he never disclosed the owner of the garden. Later that evening, at around 7pm , when Natumanya returned home with firewood, the father also tied her up and took her to the same room as her brother.
He says that Santurina Nshemerirwe, the suspect’s sister and an eyewitness, told police that she attempted to leave the house to seek help but was threatened by the suspect, who allegedly brandished a machete (panga) to prevent her from calling for assistance.
By 2am on June 1, after hours of brutal beatings, the suspect approached neighbors claiming that Natumanya had swallowed some medicine and was unresponsive. Upon arrival, the neighbors found Natumanya already dead, and immediately alerted local authorities.
Lawrence Turyahikayo, the area chairperson, helped mobilize community members who arrested the suspect and handed him over to Bubaare Police Station. Meanwhile, Owomugisha, who survived the assault, was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for emergency treatment.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said the crime scene was visited and documented, and a postmortem was conducted. The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation.
Maate commended the community for working with the police and refraining from mob justice. He also revealed that the Officer-in-Charge of CID and the Community Liaison Officer conducted a community policing session at the scene, urging parents to avoid violence and resolve conflicts without resorting to abuse.
