This year’s Nile Special rugby 7s will be played on Today  at Dam Waters ground in Jinja on two groups and will see the winners clinch Ugx 2M and runners up claiming 1M courtesy of Nile Breweries who have injected in 50million

According to one of the tournament’s organizers, Edward Ochienge, the tourney will see teams with players below 18 years of age play in the shield event while those above 18 play in the main camp. “Our main target is to develop this tournament to the level of Kenya’s Safaricom 7s, but we can’t do that without encouraging young players to embrace the sevens format of rugby and that is why we came up with the shield category,” Ochieng said

3 teams are expected to come from Up country, Lira, Gulu and Mbale districts. The tournament will see foreign team Kakamega Bulls, Dar es Salaam Leopards (from Tanzania), and Rwanda Hulks. The other teams to take part are Defending champions Kisumu, Athi River Stormers, Busia RFC, Kiboko Squad,  Migingo.among others.
