Now in its 16th year, the Africa Gathering of Excellency Awards ceremony has become the biggest and most elegant African event of the year.

“We must be proud of our brothers and sisters who are doing great things. We must be proud of ourselves,”

From the very first event in 1999, through to this day, there have been numerous innovations introduced into the GAB Awards based on a God-inspired vision and feedback from guests.

We are excited that the GAB Awards remains highly coveted and prestigious – and is a positive point of reference as far as events within the Diaspora African Community are concerned.

This year’s GAB Awards event witnessed a change in its format which allowed us to concentrate on the core of the event – the Awards Ceremony which sought to reward excellence among Africans and Friends of Africa no matter where they are based in the Diaspora or the Continent of Africa.

In all of this, one thing remains constant: Africans and Friends of Africa are better positioned to tell the positive story of Africa and Africans. Africans are achieving in various fields of human endeavour around the world and must be celebrated.

The balance is tilting in Africa’s favour. It’s Africa’s time. As Africans and Friends of Africa, we need to be in the forefront of celebrating Africa and Africans.
