HIGHWAY TO DEATH! 8 Killed in Horror Kasaba Bus–Lorry Smash On Masaka Road

Accident

Panic and tragedy rocked the Masaka–Mbarara highway Tuesday morning after a Kasaba bus rammed head-on into a lorry, leaving at least eight people dead and 33 others nursing injuries in a grisly crash at Katovu in Lyantonde District.

The ill-fated bus, registration number UAL 492H, was en route from Rukungiri to Kampala when it collided with a box-body truck in what eyewitnesses described as a terrifying impact.

Greater Masaka Regional Police spokesperson Twaha Kasirye confirmed the fatalities, saying eight passengers died on the spot while dozens of others were pulled from the wreckage with injuries.

The wounded were rushed to Lyantonde General Hospital and Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital as emergency teams battled to save lives.

Police are yet to release the identities of the victims or establish the exact cause of the crash.

The latest bloodshed on the tarmac adds to growing alarm over Uganda’s deadly highways, where accidents continue to claim lives despite ongoing enforcement efforts.
