Joy Doreen Biira Finally Out Of Jail

The renowned media personality, Joy Doreen Biira has finally been released from police custody where she spent the night following her arrest.

The news anchor/reporter of Kenyan based KTN TV was arrested on Sunday evening accused of taking photos of unrest in Kasese and making them viral on social media.

Following pressure from Social media and other concerned citizens, the police have this evening released her on bond.

This website understands that Biira had gone for an introduction party at her parents’ home in Kasese when she was arrested.

The Rwenzori region has been on tension since Saturday, with heavy gunfire between the Rwenzururu royal guards and army that has so far claimed lives of over 60 people including police officers.

This came when police and UPDF soldiers decided to run an operation to disarm the Kingdom royal guard which the guards reacted by engaging the security into a fierce fight.

The King, Charles Wesley Mumbere is still under police arrest as investigations are ongoing to determine whether he was the mastermind for the massacre.


If proven right, treason charges might be slapped on him.

The police spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi says the situation in Kasese is currently very calm, life is normal and people are back to their businesses
